A recap of our Online Members’ ZOOM Forum

Our first NSW DTA Members’ ZOOM Forum as quite a success based on feedback from those who were there!
We were delighted to get participation from nearly 20 people on screen and hear so many positive comments about wanting to ‘do it again’ to share your voice. Also nice to hear that we ran the event well, keeping to topic and timeframe.

This is an extended opportunity to share your input on any of the four topics presented. Even though you missed the event, you can still share your insights or questions. So here’s an easy way to review our presentations and get up to speed: take a look at the recap video and drop us a note with questions or anything you can contribute –including what other topics you’d like to see the Association pursue.

1. SDC as PCYC & DTA status
We recapped our origins and success with delivering the SDC in partnership with PCYC across NSW. This partnership allows our Members to conduct coaching sessions for PCYC as per our MOU. All providers are currently in re-tender process and we will update Members as we learn details. Thanks to a number of people on ZOOM for sharing their experience with PCYC.
2. Older Driver Assessors & medical reporting issues
President David Kennedy and Committee Member Peter Short have been taking notes on this situation since last November with 12,000 backlogged assessments reported and SNAFUs in the system reported regularly. As each area seems to be experiencing different reporting issues, we want to get as much anecdotal evidence as possible before creating an Association Position Statement to help remedy so many inconsistencies. We urge you to share your experiences with a reply to Admin via email.
3. DTA push to equalise learner speed limits
Good historical presentation about our long push to change being the ONLY state with 90kph for Learners. Thoughtful discussion and perspectives from our attendees. Our plan is to gather more evidence on this to present to the Minister and enter a regular dialogue for change. Thanks to Christine Hillis and Len Balk for spearheading this effort.
4. AGM Announcement
We shared the latest about our upcoming 2021 AGM to be scheduled on Sunday, 18 July in Sydney. Since last week the Committee has agreed to host another Members’ Forum at that event after the AGM. Details will be announced shortly.
5. Business Post-Covid: How were you affected?
One of the biggest learnings to come from your shared comments was to see how quickly everyone adapted to contactless payment systems. This prompted even more questions and suggestions –so we’ve taken this on board to investigate further and share our findings. Big thanks to Anthony Cope for taking the lead on this. We will report back shortly.
Thank you again for your interest and feedback. Please keep sharing with a reply!
