Transport for NSW Update – AMR
Transport for NSW has advised that from 1 November 2022 Automatic Mutual Recognition will include driving instructor licence holders.
What is Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR)?
The Automatic Mutual Recognition (AMR) scheme is a Commonwealth initiative. AMR enables holders of occupational licences, including a driving instructor licence, to work in a second state or territory without having to get a licence, or pay fees, in that second state or territory.
How will AMR work?
To work in a second state or territory, driving instructor licence holders will be asked to provide NSW with basic personal information. This may include their full name, address and licence details. The information provided will be verified with the home state or territory regulator. If holding a C class or R class of driving instructor licence, the driving instructor will also need to provide a valid NSW Working With Children Check.
The driving instructor licence holder will receive Automatic Deemed Registration immediately and can start work in the second state or territory.
