Our AGM moves to 2021 and Committee update
As NSW Fair Trading states: “Associations may conduct their AGM when restrictions are lifted or present 2020 financial information to members at the 2021 AGM.
Until 26 September 2020, associations may conduct committee meetings and general meetings using technology and pass ordinary and special resolutions by either postal or electronic ballot even if this isn’t stipulated in their constitutions. Members must still have an opportunity to participate in meetings using technology.”
Our last face-to-face Committee meeting was in February 2020. Since April we have met monthly over ZOOM meetings (6 in all) to conduct business and make important Association decisions.
One of those decisions (July) was to find two new Committee members to replace the vacancy of George Bullivant and loss of Ross James. We published an appeal in August calling for volunteers and sent personal invitations to potential candidates.

Volunteers for the Committee (or even a guest appearance) are always welcome with official nominations announced before next year’s AGM. Should any vacancies occur before then, we will call for nominations among our Members.
Welcome……. Peter Short
Peter Short is the owner/operator of All Things Driving (The Hills area) along with his wife Belinda Short. They are both veterans of the NSW Police Force before starting their Driving School in 2008. They have been NSW DTA Members for the last 9 years.
Peter comments “I’ve always liked what the Association does to bring support and resources to driving instructors and schools. As small business operators we need help wherever we can get it, it’s good to have a consolidated voice in our industry. Stepping up to Committee means I personally get to be part of that voice.”
Peter lives and works in The Hills with Belinda and their three sons.
Christine Hills, Wagga Wagga
Christine Hillis is the proprietor and co-franchisee of NRMA Safer Driving School – Wagga and Regions along with business partner Sarah Wardman since 2007. Christine is experienced in Training & Development and Business Management.
Christine comments “I’ve always been committed to road safety so getting on board with NRMA, after working with them directly for 15 year, was a natural fit. The same goes for joining the NSWDTA Committee at a time when there’s renewed focus on educating drivers to minimise their risk by imparting safe driving practices that will keep them safe for a lifetime.”
Christine lives and works in Wagga Wagga with husband Mark and the remaining 2 of their 5 children. Christine continues to be a devoted volunteer to HELP Cambodia after holding the President role from 2015 to 2019. She also enjoys networking, tennis, riding and sailing (yes, even people from Wagga love to sail!).
